The People

  • Osakans are considered warmer and more friendly than people from Tokyo
  • Osaka is also the home of Japanese comedy. Every famous comedian in Japan uses an Osaka accent.
  • Osakan like to have fun!

なんといっても大阪はお笑いの街です。
東京に住んで思いましたが、テレビで漫才を放映する時間が大阪の方が多い気がします。
アメリカではStand-up comedyの一種だよ、なんて説明すればいいんでしょうか。

Osaka vs Tokyo: Escalator Etiquette

  • Tokyo- On the Left
    • One theory about this is that Tokyo was a samurai city.
    • It is easier to draw your sword if you stand on the left.
  • Osaka- On the Right
    • Osaka however is historically a merchant city.
    • It is easier to protect your property if you stand on the right.

When traveling between Tokyo and Osaka, it gets confusing!

サムライの街、東京と商人の街、大阪。
ま、エスカレーターでの立ち位置の違いに対する一つの仮説でしょうけど
新幹線で東京駅から新大阪駅についた際、新大阪駅のエスカレーターでは
右に立つ人と左に立つ人がいてちょうど右左の境界線のような感じでおもしろいです。
ちなみにアメリカではエスカレーターの立ち位置は大阪と同じ右のようです。
(日本ほどみんなきっちりしてないので、結構アバウトな感じですけど)
